About the work
Pigeons gather beneath banana trees, some pecking at fruit and scattered grain. Birds and countryside scenes are recurring subjects in Gesner Armand’s work. Here, the company gives the eye many little pauses within one setting. Our attention moves from one bird to the next, finding the quiet pleasure of a familiar gathering each time it returns to the group.
Blue, red, rose, green and yellow feathers stand out on grass. Rough wooden fences mark either side, and deep blue sky lies above. The work is signed and dated 1999.
