Fête Champêtre

Further up the hills from a village festival, people work in fields and tend animals. Jean Dubic gives the celebration a place within this working countryside. Near and far belong together, with company close by and everyday tasks continuing beyond it. The eye moves between the two, finding different paces of life within a single view.

Musicians play guitar, tall drum and maracas beneath a palm-thatched shelter beside dancing couples. Bright shutters mark nearby houses. Orange and fruit trees, palms and pink roofs rise below dark blue clouds.
